Lifetime Memberships
Almost six years ago I jumped into an intimidating and complex project…creating the Ever Better® Podcast.
I knew this undertaking was going to change my life in ways that I couldn't imagine at the time and wanted to surround myself with other creators...people who could help me figure out technical details like which settings to use on my microphone, and mindset challenges like, "who am I to create a podcast?"
So I invested in a lifetime membership to Podcaster's Paradise, a vibrant community led by John Lee Dumas and Kate Erickson, best known for the Entrepreneurs On Fire podcast. While creating 90 episodes of the Ever Better Podcast, I often asked and received assistance from the community. And, after I had figured out the basics, I was excited to be able to help others.
The podcast did change my life!
It led me to create deep connections with incredible humans and helped me to see myself as an Executive and Leadership Coach.
Today, many of my coaching clients are founders or work for startups, and that's led me to the concept for my next podcast, "Startups and Founders."
Starting in September I'll be sharing interviews with founders who've navigated a period of rapid growth so that entrepreneurs in earlier stages can benefit from their hard-won lessons.
And once again, I'm tapping into the Podcaster's Paradise community and knowledge base. Four years later, that lifetime membership continues to pay off!
I've been reflecting on lifetime memberships and where else they show up.
Of course, one is family. I was blessed to be born into an amazing family who are always there for me.
And even though I'm no longer working for a company or non-profit, I can still count on friends from roles that I held long ago. I didn't know it at the time, but my first job in Washington, D.C., in 1990, was actually a lifetime membership!
The picture above is from an intensive coach training program in Annapolis. Spending six intense days learning and sharing with this talented group of coaches gave me another lifetime membership.
So my question to you is…
If you think of your current job as a lifetime membership, would you do anything differently?
If so, start making changes now.
